A Great Martin Luther King Jr. Video

From Wikipedia: “Zeitgeist is the general cultural, intellectual, ethical, spiritual, and/or political climate within a nation or even specific groups, along with the general ambiance, morals, sociocultural direction, and mood associated with an era.” “Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 — April 4, 1968) was an American clergyman, activist, and prominent leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement. He is best known for being an iconic figure in the advancement of civil rights in the United States and around the world, using nonviolent methods following the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. King is often presented as a heroic leader in the history of modern American liberalism.” The video does not advocate that the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. supported The Zeitgeist Movement as he passed long before its conception. Rather, using his own words, to simply show how Dr. King was in line with the thoughts and direction of this movement that concerns all of human kind. Also, this is my submission to the Zeitgeist Media Festival, an annual event for which I was unable to attend. 2. Denoomi says:

@MsMoniqueEvans Don’t get me wrong but… its not wise to stick with one solution. Open your mind for other suggestions too. I too support ZM but I do not hold it as the only truth there is

  3. MsKlh123 says:

    Humble

  4. iagoj79 says:

Man! Dr. King could be here today sharing the same thoughts. It’s like true human progression was halted when he was assassinated. I believe the Zeitgeist movement will work to educate all, because there is no leader.

  5. VogonJ says:

    @iskander982 Hey
It seems like you are right, but I se it as a battle between old thinking and “new thoughts”. We will have a period with more dogmatic reactions that can be violent. I am positive on behalf of the human race in the long run, but shurely it will be bumpy.
“The words of a past, still echo in the future” so true.

@91Megawatt Your dumb it adds beauty to it

  7. 91Megawatt says:

what fool put mussic to a luther king speech, it distracts from what is being said

  8. foodynik says:

2 people agree with all that MLK said, and actually dislike the current situation :-)

  9. iskander982 says:

Such a great man. His words, although more then 30 years old, still carry so much weight. The words of a past, still echo in the future. Our society does not evolve to the better, but to the worst!

@Tanoro LOL My favorite comedian, and one of my favorite quotes by him! Well placed. I only wish more people listened to what George Carlin actually said instead of just laughing at his jokes….

  11. Tanoro says:

@darkridr25 “Did you ever stop to think about the people we kill? It’s always those who tell us to live together in harmony and try to love one another. Jesus, Gandhi, Lincoln, John Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, Malcolm X, John Lennon. They all said live together in harmony… BAM! Right in the head. Apparently we aren’t ready for that yet.” ~George Carlin

one of the most important messages everybody should listen to

  13. MsMoniqueEvans says:

the zeitgeist movement is the truth the venus project is the solution!

  14. spectrader says:

    great video

  15. DreamworxCanada says:

Thank you for posting this great piece. MLK is more relevant today than ever before.

  16. darkridr25 says:

…And what happens to the great men who speak out against war and oppression? They get murdered by those who are threatened by their words.

    *slowly shakes head sadly*

  17. Santello22 says:

    @GreyPeaJim
    thanks, that explains it. :)

  18. wowide says:

    Great ending.

  19. GreyPeaJim says:

@Santello22 1500% increase: The way I interpreted this, $500000 was the amount spent on the war in 1967 and this figure is the equivalent of $3220000 in 2006. In 2006 $50m was spent on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. 1500% increase of $3.2m is $48m.
I’m not a mathematician, so just point and laugh if I calculated that wrong, but I think the author of this video possibly came to the same calculation. :)

  20. egbcrushers says:

Just an absolute great video that I will share. I too hold the values that Dr. King spoke of especially when most don’t see. The man is a great example to us all and we should continue his legacy now and forever. EQUALITY

  21. famished73 says:

    good one!!

  22. UnattendedMind says:

@Santello22 the problem was inaction against an obvious sociopath.

  23. Santello22 says:

As much as i want to like the video i wonder.
1500% increase?? How did you come by that figure?
And nonviolent resistance?? During WW2?? Wasn’t the problem that there was total disarmament (in the period before) which in turn caused…..?

The ideal seems good, but what about the implementation? (you better be damm sure it works)

  24. seanrobson says:

“they are products of the problem rather than causes of the problem”
This mans words have never stopped ringing true.

We have more segregation today than we have ever had in the history of mankind.

It is the time for the Zeitgeist Movement as it was once the time for the civil rights movement … it is the time, we are well overdue.

  25. Anonywish says:

    outstanding! thank you :)
